The Fine Print
Grand Valley Fibre Company reserves the right to refuse incoming fibre that does not meet quality standards to make a quality end product. This includes fibre that has not been skirted sufficiently to remove vegetation and manure as well as fibre that is tender or stressed. Due to the specific design of our machines and the stress that the process exerts on fibre, we provide no guarantee that fleeces will not be damaged during picking, carding or spinning. There is a 3” minimum fibre length required for spinning to yarn, however the maximum fibre length is 10 inches. Inconsistent fibre lengths will result in 'slubs' in the yarn. Fibres shorter than 2" (but greater than 1.5") can be made into roving or batts or felt. While there is no minimum batch size and single fleeces can be processed, you will be charged a minimum of 5 lbs for batches less than 5lbs. We recommend combining ‘like’ fleeces (ie same grade, similar length) to increase the yield of the final product. While we do our best to limit colour contamination, due to the nature of the process, there is a risk of a stray fibre getting mixed within a batch at any stage throughout the process.
A downpayment of 50% of the estimated processing cost is required at the start of processing. Final payment is due before any finished product can be shipped or picked up. If final payment is not received within 30 days of written notification the product becomes the property of Grand Valley Fibre Company and may be sold to recover the cost of processing.
While we do our best to keep the cost of the process reasonable and competitive, external costs such as heat, hydro and other consumables are beyond our control and may require us to raise our prices at any time to cover our costs.
