Mix It Up
Add Some Blending Fibres
Sometimes it makes sense to blend a complimentary fibre to your order to enhance the properties of your fibre and to give you a more varied selection of yarn. We always have a good selection of blending fibres available and can add any combination or any percentage based on availability. We ask that you do your research so you understand the properties of the blending fibre being added to your order.
Our selection varies but may include the following fibres:
- White Merino
- Dyed Merino (in a variety of colours)
- White Blue Faced Leicester
- Nylon
- Bamboo
- Tencel
Fibre can be blended at the picker for absolute and consistent blending, at the carder for consistent blending or at the pindrafter which will provide a less consistent or more ‘heathered’ look.
While we make every effort to process your fibre based on your specifications, there are instances where we must increase the percentage of the blend or add blending fibre in order to ensure the yarn spins correctly. We will of course contact you prior to adding any complimentary fibre to your order.
The charge for the fibre and work associated with adding it will be added to your invoice.
Split the Batch
Increase the variety of your finished yarns by splitting the batch into various yarn weights or blends.
We recommend that you batch similar length and grade fibres together to create larger batches for more cost efficient processing. Anytime after the washing stage, we can split the larger batch into smaller batches to create more variety in your finished product.
For example a 20lb batch (based on output from the carder) of similar fibre can be split into the following yarns:
We invite you to step outside the box and be creative. The possibilities are limitless to create you own one of a kind yarn!
